Limerick St. Patrick’s Festival playlist launched

LIMERICK City and County Council launched the playlist, which celebrates some of Limerick’s leading musical talents.

The playlist showcases a mix of home-grown local bands, musicians, solo artists and singer-songwriters from across Limerick.

Limerick St. Patrick’s Festival invited people to share their favorite music from Limerick artists to create this unique playlist to enjoy in the lead up to the festival, which is running 17 March-20 March.

Contributors include: Conductor Andrew Jordan; Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr. Daniel Butler; Limerick GAA; Lumen Street Theatre’s Martin Shannon; Limerick Museum Curator Matthew Potter; author and presenter Meghann Scully; DJ and podcaster Olivia Chau, and student and podcaster Pádraig O’Callaghan.

Among the featured artists are: Anna’s Anchor; Beoga; Denise Chaila; Emma Langford; Fox Jaw; Hermitage Green; James Hanley; John Steele; Laura Duff; Lost Boys; Paddy Mulcahy; Powpig; Raging Sons; Rusangano Family; The Cranberries and The Hitchers.

It is hoped that the playlist will shine a light on some of Limerick’s celebrated bands and musicians after a difficult two years for the music industry.

The playlist has something for fans of every music genre, like Irish folk, indie rock and hip-hop.

The Limerick St. Patrick’s Festival playlist is the first in a new ‘Sounds of Limerick’ series launched by the Council.

Members of the public will shortly be invited to nominate their favourite Limerick bands and tracks via Limerick St. Patrick’s Festival Instagram and the most popular selection will be added to the final playlist.
