Red Hot Mamas test positive for Covid after Limerick visit

MEMBERS of a musical-comedy group from the US that participated in last week’s St Patrick’s Festival Parade in Limerick have had their visit extended longer than expected after testing positive for Covid-19.

Hailing from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, The Red Hot Mamas were well received in the Treaty City during the first Limerick parade in three years. The trip leader for the group of 15, Pam Ames revealed that half the members had to quarantine in Dublin in recent days, although six participants who tested negative did fly home.

All members of the comedy act, according to American publication the Spokesman-Review, were vaccinated and followed travel requirements from the USA, Ireland and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

On the Mamas’ Facebook page this Tuesday, members revealed they are “feeling better daily as they care for one another”. They also praised the Irish authorities for continuing to be extra accommodating and caring.

“Some are starting to be released from isolation hotel today to begin their additional three-day stay in Dublin before the US will allow them to travel home,” the group explained.

Limerick people who attended the parade sent on their best wishes through social media and thanked the group for their entertaining performance in the city.

“You were all so entertaining for the people of Limerick. It was a pleasure to have you join our St Patrick’s Festival. We look forward to seeing you all again,” one well-wisher posted.
