University of Limerick is sharing visions of the future

UNIVERSITY of Limerick is inviting members of the public to a series of free online seminars where industry leaders will share their insights on topics from war and digital tech to food security, zero carbon emissions, the future of healthcare and smart ageing.

Founded and co-led by Dr Annmarie Ryan at the Kemmy Business School, ‘FuturesNow’ is an ideas platform for the creation and sharing of visions about the future.

“Digital technology is changing our futures at a very rapid pace. The world we experience today would have been difficult to imagine even 20 years ago. What ‘FuturesNow’ offers is the space to come together and consider how digital technology can influence and shape our future,” Dr Ryan explained.

Five seminars will be held this Thursday and Friday (March 7 and 8) examining the areas of ‘War and Digital Technology’, ‘Food Security and Zero Carbon Emissions’, ‘Disrupting Future Healthcare’ and ‘Smart Ageing’.

The speakers include John Maughan, Chief Product Officer of HaloCare; Peacekeeper and author Col. Colm Doyle (Rtd.); Connor Mc Ginn, Co-Founder and CEO of Akara Robotics; Dr. Nat O’Connor, Senior Public Affairs and Policy Specialist at Age Action Ireland; Anne Griffin, Allied School of Health University of Limerick;  Stan O’Neill, Managing Director of The Compliance Group; Professor Damien Thompson, Department of Physics University of Limerick and John Spink, Head of Crops Environment and Land Use Programme at Teagasc.
