Five arrested in €600,000 drug bust on Clare Limerick border

GARDAÍ in Limerick and Clare arrested five people and recovered drugs with an estimated street value of more than €600,000 on Friday. 

After searching a car near Westbury on the Clare/Limerick border, Gardaí discovered suspected cocaine worth €10,000 and arrested three men who were travelling in the vehicle.

In follow-up searches, Gardaí seized more than €600,000-worth of suspected cocaine, heroin, amphetamine, and diazepam tablets and a man and a woman were arrested.

A garda spokesman said: “The occupants of the vehicle, three men aged in their 20s and 40s, were arrested at the scene and taken to Henry Street Garda Station. Two of these men have since been released from custody pending files to the DPP.

A number of follow-up searches were conducted in Limerick and a further two persons were arrested.”
