This weekend’s Limerick Senior Hurling Championship fixtures

THERE are a couple of top-of-the-table clashes in the concluding round of group matches in the Limerick Senior Football Championship at the weekend.

The competition is split into two groups, with each section winner advancing straight through to the semi-finals, while teams finishing second and third will qualify for quarter-final slots.

Holders Newcastle West, whose ranks include All-Star nominated Cian Sheehan, are fancied to topple great rivals Fr Casey’s in Group One, while Adare, under the long-term captaincy of Shane Doherty, are likely to account for plucky St Kieran’s in Group Two.

The above quartet are all likely to make it into the knock-out stages. Tipped to join them are both Monaleen and Kildimo/Pallaskenry.

Meanwhile, Football Committee members Gerry Phillips, Wayne Fitzgerald, and Tony Greene are joined by Executive Officers Seamus McNamara and Michael O’Riordan with the task of finding a successor to Billy Lee as Limerick SF manager. The position is likely to be filled advance of the County Final in mid-October.
