Limerick Santas will swap their sleighs for bikes

Participants in a previous Milford Santa Cycle.

SANTA will shortly be hopping on his sleigh to begin a marathon journey around the world. But before that, he and dozens of his helpers will taking on a 12k cycle to raise money for a good cause.

Men and women in red are wanted for the fourth Limerick Santa Cycle in aid of Milford Hospice Care Centre on Sunday, December 4.

Limerick Santa Cycle 2022 will be in memory of Alan Kavanagh, a dear friend of the organisers, who sadly passed away in 2020.

Milford Hospice Care Centre is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation and registered charity. It was first established by the Little Company of Mary Sisters in 1928 and now provides specialist palliative care and older persons services in the Mid West.

The cycle will go from The Hurlers pub on the Dublin road into O’Connell Street and back, via the main gates of the hospice.

It’s a spin that’s suitable for all over 16 and is a fun festive event. Santa suits and festive lights for the bike will be provided on the night.

Entry fee is €30 and covers suits and bikes lights but numbers of these are limited, so early booking is advised. Finger food and refreshments will be on the table after the cycle in The Hurlers pub.

There will be prizes on the night for those that register early, for the best Santa costumes, and for the most lit up bike. Raffle prizes are on offer in Santa’s sack too.

Organisers invite those interested to sign up to Ireland’s largest Santa Cycle on Eventbrite.
