Rehab bosses criticised for not honouring deal with Limerick workers

REHAB Group management have been challenged over their ongoing refusal to honour a redundancy deal for 38 vulnerable workers who lost their jobs at the Rehab Enterprises workshop in Limerick two years ago.

Speaking at the Oireachtas Committee for Enterprise Trade and Employment last week, Limerick Sinn Féin Senator Paul Gavan criticised Rehab management for not honouring the long standing redundancy deal.

“It’s hard to express the hurt and pain that these workers feel over being denied this money. One worker, who should have received €60,000, actually got only €20,000.

“A Labour Court recommendation established through an independent financial analysis that Rehab Group did have financial options to meet this claim.”

Senator Gavan also informed the Rehab Group that Seanad Eireann would be taking a vote next week calling on Rehab to pay the money owed and fully honour the Labour Court recommendation.

“These workers have already been left waiting two years. This issue is not going to go away and I am calling on Rehab to honour this deal,” he added.
