National Hurling League Final blow for O’Donoghue

William O'Donoghue will miss the league final against Kilkenny.

LIMERICK will not challenge a one-match ban imposed on towering midfielder William O’Donoghue by the GAA Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC).

O’Donoghue, of county champions Na Piarsaigh, was last night handed the suspension after he received a sanction for making contact with the head of Tipperary’s Alan Tynan prior to the throw-in of the recent league semi-final at the Gaelic Grounds.

The CCCC reviewed the incident and proposed O’Donoghue be suspended for one fixture. They have the authority to issue a retrospective punishment when referee Liam Gordon of Galway confirmed he did not deal with the matter at the time.

O’Donoghue will thus be forced to sit-out Sunday’s National League Final against Kilkenny at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Micheál Houlihan of Kilmallock replaced an injured O’Donoghue in the latter stages of the outing with Tipp.
