Limerick footballer in the running for Blue Jean Queen title

AN inter-county football player will represent Limerick at this year’s Blue Jean Country Queen Festival organized by Meath Macra na Feirme over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

22-year-old Amy Hanrahan from Askeaton is an active member of Shannonside Macra Macra na Feirme. A secondary school teacher by profession, she is a talented footballer, soccer player and horse woman.

She played for Limerick senior ladies’ football team from 2019 to 2022 and captained Limerick to an under-21 Munster final against Kerry.

Amy will be among 23 young women participating the Blue Jean Festival in Athboy which attracted entries from Macra clubs all over the country as well as representatives from Northern Ireland and Canada.

The event is mainly focused on fun and entertainment but Amy and the other contestants will be competing for the Blue Jean Country Queen crown which includes prizes to the value of €1,000. The runner-up will receive €500 with  €300 going to the third prize winner.
