Gardaí investigating fire at Limerick GAA grounds

A GARDA investigation has been launched after an incident of criminal damage at the Kilmallock GAA grounds last weekend.

The club posted about the incident on their facebook page showing fire damage to seating in one of the stands, as well as part of the pitch and two sections of fencing.

A video and photo on Facebook accompanied the post: “This how our grounds looked this morning. Two sections of the fencing are destroyed , the field is damaged, and the seating in the stand is gone- burnt away.”

Gardaí confirmed to the Limerick Post that investigations are ongoing.

“Gardaí at Bruff have commenced an investigation following a fire at a sportsground in the Kilmallock area of County Limerick.”

“The incident is understood to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday,May 21.”

“Fire damage was caused to part of a stand in the grounds.”

The spokesperson said that enquires are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí at Bruff on 061-382940 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
