LIMERICK Camogie and Ladies Football have been given a significant financial boost through a continued sponsorship deal.

Former Limerick star Aoife Sheehan, along with top local sprinter Ciara Neville and Cork football legend Bríd Stack, were on hand to launch the continued support by ruby anniversary celebrating Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel of all Limerick Ladies Gaelic Football and Camogie teams.

“We were thrilled to have had all three with us, and in particular for them to be all so enthusiastic in their support of female teams representing Limerick,” commented sponsor Mary Fitzgerald, of the Woodlands House Hotel.

“Aoife, Ciara and Bríd all enjoyed success in their playing careers, and hopefully their collective encouragement will give our county teams all a lift in this summer’s championship.”

Recent bronze medal winner at the European Games, Sarah Lavin, who was due to be another special guest at the event, was unavoidably absent but sent her wishes.

“Lumineach Abú,” she stated. “Female sport is on an upward curve, and it’s superb to have Limerick very much within this forward drive.”

In senior camogie, Limerick travel Offaly next weekend, while the junior team came away from Tourneen with a 2-9 to 0-10 victory over Mayo at the weekend.

In ladies football, Limerick entertain Sligo in Newcastle West on Sunday (2pm).
