Limerick Fine Gael TD and Minister of State Patrick O'Donovan.

DÁIL proceedings were suspended earlier today after Limerick OPW Minister Patrick O’Donovan appeared to be overtaken by a sudden illness.

Minister O’Donovan became ill while answering questions on healthcare from Fianna Fáil TD Éamon Ó Cuívin in the Dáil chamber.

Parts of Leinster House were reported to have been sealed off after the Minister subsequently collapsed and an ambulance was called.

His condition at this time is unknown, but it is believed he has been taken to St James’ Hospital in Dublin.

Following the incident, Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl suspended the sitting of the Dáil until 2pm on Tuesday.
