Funeral arrangements for teenager killed in road accident on Limerick border

THE 19-YEAR-OLD who lost his life in a two car collision on the Limerick-Tipperary border on Saturday (July 15) has been named locally as Ignacy ‘Iggy’ Sokoluk, of Dundrum, County Tipperary.

The young man, a native of Warsaw in Poland, was killed when two cars collided on the N24 in Ballykisten, County Tipperary.

According to Gardaí, the male driver and another man in the vehicle with Mr Sokoluk were taken to University Hospital Limerick (UHL), where the second passenger was described as being in a “serious condition”.

The two occupants of the second vehicle were also conveyed to UHL suffering “non-life threatening injuries”.

Gardaí have appealed for dashcam footage of the collision, asking those with information to contact Tipperary Garda Station on 062 80 670.

Mr Sokoluk is survived by his mother, Maria, stepfather Sean McGrath, sisters Alice and Tia, grandparents, uncles, army colleagues, and extended family and friends.

The young man’s remains will be reposing at Whelan’s Funeral Home, Bansha Road, Tipperary Town, today, Friday (July 21) from 5.30pm followed by Funeral Mass at 12pm on Saturday in St Michael’s Church, Tipperary, with burial afterwards at St Michael’s Cemetery in Tipperary Town.
