Covid-19 outbreaks at a number of inpatient wards in UHL

UNIVERSITY Hospital Limerick are managing a number of Covid-19 outbreaks on inpatient hospital wards, the Limerick Post has learned.

The UL Hospitals Group (ULHG), who oversees the running of University Hospital Limerick (UHL), have confirmed to the Limerick Post that “a number” of inpatient wards are affected by the virus.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the group said that the outbreaks were being managed by staff on the wards.

“Outbreaks of Covid-19 are being managed on a number of inpatient wards at University Hospital Limerick.”

“These are being monitored daily by our outbreak teams and Infection Prevention and Control staff, with the wearing of surgical masks advised in these locations,” the spokesperson said.

The Group would not confirm how many wards were affected or when the outbreak would be fully under control.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Association were also approached for comment.
