GARDAÍ have advised parents in Limerick to ensure doors and windows are secure while doing the school run.
This comes after a house in Patrickswell was broken into on Wednesday August 31 between 9.30am and 11am while a mother was on the school run.
According to local Gardaí, when the mother returned home from dropping her children to school, she realised her family home had been ransacked and a small amount of cash taken.
Garda Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station, said: “Gardaí know that a house alarm is a very valuable deterrent. Always set your alarm and ensure your windows and doors are secure before you leave, even if it’s only for a short time.”
