Met Éireann issue thunderstorm warning for Limerick

LIMERICK may be due a shift from the scorching weather of the past few days throughout tomorrow (Sunday September 10) as a warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the national meteorological service.

Met Éireann today issued a status yellow thunderstorm warning set to come into effect across Limerick tomorrow morning from 6am right through to midnight.

According to Met Éireann, “localised thunderstorms” and “slow moving heavy downpours” can be expected which may lead to “frequent lightning and surface water-flooding”. 

Also included in the status yellow warning are Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, and Waterford. 

The storms are expected to cover the majority of the country, with a second thunderstorm warning issued by Met Éireann for Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, and Westmeath set to come into effect from midday on Sunday and continue throughout the day.

In Northern Ireland, the UK Met Office issued another warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry, which will be in place from 2pm on Sunday until midnight.
