Limerick Council handed out just five dog fouling fines in 2022

LIMERICK City and County Council handed out just five fines for dog fouling during 2022.

According to figures compiled by the National Council for the Blind Ireland (NCBI), only 82 dog fouling fines were handed out across all local authorities in Ireland last year.

This compares to 788 fines handed out by Limerick council for cars parking on footpaths.

Kerry County Council handed out the highest amount of dog fouling fines with 27, and two convictions.

The NCBI survey found that dog fouling is the third most frequent unexpected obstacle encountered by their respondents.
