UISCE Éireann crews will be getting down to work in Fedamore in the coming days, replacing almost 800 metres of damaged water mains with new modern pipes.

The works will take place from Fedamore Church to a point 100m beyond the junction with the R511 at the eastern side of the village. The works will be carried out by Ward & Burke Construction Ltd and will be completed by February.

Areas of works will be limited to short sections to minimise impact on customers. Traffic management will be in place where water mains are being constructed however the community can be assured that local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.

To deliver these works safely and efficiently, a road closure will be in place along the L1143-209. The road closure times will be in place 24-hours a day from 8:00am on Monday 20 November to 6:00pm on Friday 15 December.

Traffic management will also be in place in the form of traffic lights on the L1143-209 and L1143-489 for the duration of the works.

The project forms part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme and will help the body achieve its 2030 goal of a national leakage rate of 25 per cent. The National Leakage Reduction team has made great strides since 2018 when the leakage rate stood at 46 per cent.

Since 2018, Uisce Éireann has invested more than €500million to upgrade the underground water network across the country through the delivery of the national Leakage Reduction Programme.

It is now investing a further €250million every year up to the end of 2030, fixing leaks and replacing pipes to provide a more reliable water supply.
