Limerick people urged to beware of bogus callers

AS the festive season approaches, people across Limerick are urged to be aware of door-to-door scammers.

Gardaí in Limerick have received reports of people calling to homes, posing as interviewers from legitimate market research agencies.

However, these bogus callers have asked people for their PPS numbers, which is something that no legitimate market research agent would do.

That’s according to Crime Prevention Officer with Henry Street Garda Station, Garda John Finnerty, who said that employees from market research agencies will hold an ID badge to prove their identity.

He also said that real interviewers will never mind being asked to show ID when calling.
