Local calls for expansion to Revenue helpline hours

Limerick Fine Gael Senator Maria Byrne

THE Revenue Commissioners should expand their current helpline hours to assist taxpayers with their queries, according to Fine Gael Senator Maria Byrne.

Fine Gael’s Seanad spokesperson on Finance, Senator Byrne said that Revenue’s current helpline hours of 9.30am to 1.30pm are unsuitable for those working and for vulnerable customers who may struggle to make their queries online.

“The helpline is currently open in the morning only, and it’s very challenging to get through to an operator due to the high volumes of calls within such a short timeframe.”

“With the tax deadline approaching, this is becoming a bigger issue for people who urgently need to contact Revenue and are under increased pressure to get their questions answered before that deadline,” Senator Byrne added.
