A FAIRTYTALE season continued for Mungret St. Paul’s with an exciting 0-14 to 0-12 defeat of arch rivals Monaleen in the last-ever Premier Under-21 Hurling Championship Final at Rathkeale’s Mick Neville Park.

The grade reverts to Under-20 in 2024.

Monaleen were 0-9 to 0-5 ahead at the interval, and for much of the third quarter until the eventual winners entered top-gear in the closing stages.

A couple of remarkable points from defender Cillian Archer and full-forward Liam Lynch – who finished the contest with eight points – earned Brian Begley’s young guns victory.

Odhrán O’Dwyer captained the side to success.
