Welcome return of AIL action

The popular All-Ireland League returns after its festive break this afternoon, with all teams having completed nine of their scheduled 18 fixtures.

In Division 1A (a table comfortably headed by Clontarf), Bateman Cup finalists Young Munster, with five wins, sit in sixth position and are away to Cork Constitution at Temple Hill at 2.30pm on Saturday.

The sides clashed just before Christmas at Tom Clifford Park, with Young Munster coming from the proverbial next parish to win a 22-21 thriller.

It’s 30 years since Young Munster lifted the AIL title but over the past couple of seasons the side have gone close to breaking that jinx.

After round 10, the run-in for Ger Slattery’s side is difficult, home to Ballynahinch, Dublin University, and Lansdowne are all manageable but three away trips in succession – City of Armagh, Terenure, and Clontarf – will be tricky.
