Limerick man honoured with award for his contribution to aviation

A LIMERICK man was presented with a prestigious aviation award at a ceremony in Dublin.

Liam Bagnell was honoured with the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Aviation Industry, at the Aviation Industry Awards.

Mr Bagnell is the founder and CEO of Shannon-based company Aero Inspection.

Only four other people have been given the Outstanding Contribution Award: Tony Ryan, founder of Ryanair; Willie Walsh, Aer Lingus CEO; Domhnal Slattery CEO of Avolon; and Colm McLoughlin, CEO of Dubai Duty Free.

The Crecora native began his aviation career in 1974 when he joined the Irish Air Corps as a mechanic.

Liam said: “This industry has given me the career of my dreams, so it is really something special to be honoured in this way.”
