Two Limerick teams through to last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup

Pike Rovers and Regional United are both through to the last 16 of the prized FAI Junior Cup.

In the capital, Pike advanced with a 1-0 win over Lucan United. The decisive goal arrived through a smashing headed effort from Shane Clarke.

At home, Regional recovered stunningly from a 2-0 interval deficit to progress 3-2, over Grattan United (Cork) after extra-time.

The important strikes came from Donal O’Connell, Kieran O’Connell, and Ruairí Casserly, in the opening period of extra-time.

Pike are also into the semi-finals of the FAI Under-17 Cup, courtesy of a 1-0 victory against Stella Marias (Dublin), with the goal late-on through Aaron Cusack.

Desmond League side Askeaton-Kilcornan exited away to current Intermediate Champions Cockhill Celtic (Donegal).
