€1.1million of cannabis seized in Limerick as part of joint operation

An estimated €1.1million in herbal cannabis was seized in the haul.

MORE than €1million worth of illegal cannabis has been seized in a joint operation involving Customs and Revenue Service personnel and Gardaí in Limerick.

The drugs were seized yesterday (Thursday February 1) by Gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Kerry Divisional Drug Unit in a joint operation with Revenue’s Customs Service in the Limerick area.

The officers seized approximately 55kgs worth of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.1m.

A man in his 40s was arrested by Gardaí and is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Southern Region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
