One killed in two-vehicle crash in County Limerick

GARDAÍ confirmed this evening (Friday) that one man was killed in a two-vehicle crash near a South Limerick town.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road incident earlier this afternoon involving a car and a motorcycle, in which a man in his 60s lost his life.

According to Gardaí, the man, driving the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Limerick.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was treated at the scene by paramedics for injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The incident happened on the R515 by Kilmallock at around 2pm this afternoon.

The road remains closed this evening pending a technical examination by Garda forensic investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are seeking any witnesses who may have been in the area between 1.30pm and 2pm today, especially who may have dashcam footage, to make themselves known to Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
