Man to appear before courts in connection with €540,000 cannabis seizures in Limerick and Cork

The suspected cannabis was seized in searches carried out in Limerick and Cork.

A MAN is due to appear before the courts this afternoon in connection with two massive drugs seizures in Limerick and Cork.

Gardaí seized suspected cannabis herb estimated at a combined value of €540,000 following searches in Limerick and Cork yesterday (Friday February 23).

One man is due to appear before Cork City District Court this afternoon (Saturday) in connection with the seizures, after being charged by Gardaí.

Gardaí operating out of Cork seized an estimated €300,000 worth of suspected herbal cannabis following the search of a vehicle in Mallow on Friday afternoon.

In a related follow-up search, Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit seized a further €240,000 of suspected cannabis in the Ballysheedy area.

All of the drugs seized are to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland pending further analysis.

Gardaí said that a man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the seizures and is shortly to appear before Cork City District Court.
