WHO is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the build outs placed across the city during Covid to facilitate outdoor hospitality?

That was the question from Labour Party councillor Joe Leddin at this month’s local authority Metropolitan District meeting.

He was informed by Liam Browne of the council’s Transportation and Mobility Directorate that the businesses using the outdoor dining areas are generally required to maintain them and keep them tidy.

Any structural repairs, he explained, would be the responsibility of the local authority.

“The council’s Public Realm Section is reviewing the long term strategy for outdoor dining areas in Limerick City,” Mr Browne told Cllr Leddin.
