MIC names new Dean of Arts

MARY Immaculate College (MIC) has announced the appointment of a new dean of its Faculty of Arts.

Professor Jane Stadler was confirmed as the new Dean of Arts at MIC. She joins the college from the University of New England in Australia, where she served as Dean of Graduate Research.

MIC said that Professor Stadler “brings more than two decades of academic leadership, teaching and research excellence in media and cultural studies, having held senior leadership roles across a number of leading Australian universities”.

She previously held positions as Chair of Media and Communication at Swinburne University of Technology, Head of the Communications School at Queensland University of Technology, and Director of Research Higher Degrees at the University of Queensland.

Professor Stadler’s work has been published extensively, including four authored books, over 50 peer-reviewed research papers, and numerous edited collections.

Speaking on her appointment, Professor Stadler said she was “delighted to be joining MIC and very much look forward to becoming part of a vibrant academic community with such a strong commitment to teaching, research, and student success.”

“I am excited to work with colleagues and students across the Faculty of Arts as we continue to support innovation, creativity and academic opportunity.”

Welcoming Professor Stadler, MIC Vice-President of Academic Affairs, Professor Niamh Hourigan, added: “Professor Stadler brings an exceptional breadth of academic leadership, teaching excellence, and international research experience”.
