LIMERICK City and County Council has announced plans to develop a new Columbarium garden within the historic grounds of Mount St Lawrence Cemetery.

Following extensive consultations and discussions, officials have identified the area near the office at the cemetery, down the path on the left, as the designated site for this transformative project.

Fine Gael councillor Sarah Kiely has welcomed the progression of this project.

“The proposed Columbarium garden is set to address pressing capacity issues within the cemetery while preserving its rich historical significance.

“This initiative reflects a commitment to both honouring the past and meeting the evolving needs of the community,” she said.
