A CHEQUE for €18,231 was presented by Cllr Stephen Keary, former Mayor of Limerick, to the Mid Western Cancer Foundation following a very successful charity coffee morning.

Cllr Keary presented the check to foundation board director Gerry O’Doherty.

Reflecting on the sum raised, Cllr Keary, who himself is a survivor of bowel cancer, said he was “totally shocked, for this amount of money to be raised by holding a coffee morning in  a small community, it is very humbling”.

Mr O’Doherty said the funding will go to good use and thanked those who gave so generously.
