Local business leader announced as new Limerick Chamber CEO

A NEW CEO of Limerick Chamber has been announced in Michelle Gallagher, president of the MBA Association of Ireland with over two decades of experience across a number of high-level business sectors both at home and abroad.

The new chief executive officer fills the position which had been helmed in the interim by current Chamber Director of Policy, Seán Golden, since the previous CEO, Dee Ryan, stepped down from her position to run in last June’s mayoral elections.

The former Chamber CEO, Ms Ryan, is expected to contest in the upcoming general election for Fianna Fáil.

A statement from Limerick Chamber this Monday morning (September 9) said that it was pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Gallagher as its new CEO.

The new Chamber boss has over 20 years of experience in strategic growth, innovation, and global brand expansion across sectors including MedTech, life sciences, consumer electronics, and aviation.

The proud Limerick native’s distinguished career so far has included senior leadership roles in multinational corporations, startups, and SMEs in both business and consumer-facing markets, with the Chamber saying that “her ability to expand global brand presence across Ireland, the UK, EMEA, and international markets positions her as an ideal leader to guide Limerick Chamber into the future”.

The Limerick School of Art and Design and University of Limerick graduate already has a strong roots in the Mid West, being actively involved in the community, sporting, and voluntary sectors.

As President of the MBA Association of Ireland, she has overseen operations and organized events that contribute to the professional development of over 2,000 C-suite and executive members across the country.

Ms Gallagher said she was “honoured to take on the role of CEO at Limerick Chamber. Limerick has seen remarkable growth, and I am committed to ensuring that the Chamber continues to be a leading advocate and support for businesses here.”

The board of Limerick Chamber expressed strong confidence in Michelle’s leadership, with Chamber president Noel Gavin saying that her “track record of driving transformative change, coupled with her deep connections to the Limerick community, makes her uniquely suited to lead the Chamber into a new era”.

As CEO, the Chamber says Ms Gallagher will focus on advancing its strategic vision, enhancing its advocacy role, and fostering a business-friendly environment that supports local traders, SMEs, and larger enterprises.
