THERE were commendable performances from brothers James and Liam Chawke of Rathkeale at the International North West 200, ‘the triangle’ motorcycle road race staged around Portstewart, Coleraine, and Portrush.
The course is one of the fastest in the world, with average speeds of close on 190km/h.
It again attracted in the region of 150,000 visitors, marking it as the largest annual sporting event in Northern Ireland.
James (Lyonara Cold Stores/Chawkie Racing BMW and TH Racing 600 Honda) made his debut for the TH Racing Team in the Supersport Class, while Liam, Superstock, had two bikes this time around, bringing along also the Chawkie Racing Supporters Club Kawasaki ZX6.
Across the exciting few days, there were a series of Top 20 finishes for the pair, who also both set personal bests.
One of the great duels of the event was that between Liam Chawke and Wayne Bourgeois.
Earlier in the year, the brothers were unveiled by Boss-E Racing as coaches to its team within the Irish Minibike Championship.
