GARDAÍ are investigating after a car was broken into in broad daylight this past Saturday (August 16) on the outskirts of Limerick City.
Gardaí said they are aware of and are investigating an “incident of criminal damage to a car”, which was widely shared across social media since the weekend.
The incident took place in broad daylight at approximately 6pm on Saturday at Kilteragh Close in Dooradoyle.
Footage shared online of the incident shows the backseat window of a car smashed and an individual with their hand inside the broken window.
It appears from the footage that the would-be burglar opened the car door by reaching through the broken window and, after the car alarm sounded, fled the scene.
One local who contacted the Limerick Post said they do not believe last Saturday’s events to be an isolated incident, and claim that other similar incidents have taken place in recent times.
Gardaí said that investigations into the events of last Saturday are ongoing.
