KEN McDonald (Shannon RC) captured two gold medals at the World Rowing Virtual Indor Championships at the weekend.
He won both the 1,000m final and the Men’s 1 minute events, both in the 50-54 age group.
In the latter, McDonald set a new World Record of 373 metres.
His time for the 1,000m was just over 3 minutes.
To make the lightweight division (under 75kg), he shed 7kg since Christmas.
An instructor at the Garda Training College, McDonald is a former international rower with multiple World Championship wins and World Records to his credit.
