THE Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) Mid West launched its annual appeal, urging people to support families under pressure this Christmas.
This year’s theme, ‘The Wonder of Christmas’, reflects the rising number of calls from people wondering how they will put food on the table, keep their homes warm, and afford toys for their children this Christmas.
Speaking at the launch, SVP Regional President Bridget Healy said: “At the end of October, the number of calls for requests for help was up seven per cent on last year, and we expect overall requests for 2025 to exceed 25,000.”
