EXPRESSIONS of interest are being sought by Limerick Council from community representatives who wish to play an integral role in the safety of their community.

Membership of the Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) is now open. The partnership aims to ensure that community safety is shaped by those who know their communities best.

This expression of interest process, the Council said, will help identify representatives who reflect the diversity, experience, and strengths of communities across Limerick.

The model is based on the principle that every community is different, and membership should reflect a range of sectors, demographics, and community interests.

Applications are sought from residents, youth representatives, minority voices, and representatives from the community, voluntary, education, and business sectors.

Applicants should live or work in Limerick and be able to represent the six electoral areas and wider communities. Nominations from diverse backgrounds and experiences are strongly encouraged.

The LCSP is a new national model established under the Policing, Security, and Community Safety Act 2024. The regulations establishing LCSPs came into operation in June 2025, with partnerships automatically created in every local authority area.

It brings together residents, community groups, local authorities, An Garda Síochána, the HSE, Tusla, and other public services.

Its purpose is to develop a community safety plan that reflects local needs, builds trust, and ensures coordinated action across agencies.

Limerick’s LCSP will consist of up to 30 positions.

Expressions of interest can be lodged on mypoint.limerick.ie before January 30 at 4pm.
