GARDAÍ are investigating after a massive drug swoop in County Clare, which came as part of a joint operation between An Gardaí Síochána and Revenue officers.
A statement from Gardaí this Wednesday afternoon confirmed that €4.2million worth of suspected cannabis herb was seized in County Clare on Tuesday of this week.
A man in his 40s was arrested in connection with the seizure.
An intelligence-led operation between Revenue and Gardaí led to the seizure of 210 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis herb, which Gardaí say has an estimated value of €4.2m.
“This seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Clare Divisional Drug Unit and Revenue’s Customs Service,” Gardaí said.
“One male (aged in his 40s) was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained in a Garda Station in County Clare under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.”
Gardaí said “the seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.”
“Investigations are ongoing,” a Garda spokesman added.
