TWO Limerick schools were named as regional Water Schools of the Year at the recent An Taisce Green Schools awards.
At the ceremony in Dublin, Scoil Ailbhe/Caherelly NS and Glenroe Community NS were named regional winners in the primary school category on the back of their efforts in water conservation and environmental action.
Scoil Ailbhe’s entry placed older pupils mentoring younger ones on water conserving techniques, leading to a reduction of 6.4 litres per person.
Glenroe Community pupils NS were awarded for their efforts in introducing water tap monitors, water tap audits, and water walks, as well as poster competitions.
