ELEVEN long-derelict housing units in the centre of Patrickswell village are finally moving in the right direction, says Fine Gael councillor Dan McSweeney.

This came after the Council confirmed to the Patrickswell native that significant preparatory work is now underway to bring the units back into use.

The properties, which have remained vacant for more than 15 years, have significantly detracted from the appearance of the village.

In recent years, Limerick City and County Council acquired the units under the Derelict Sites Act and the site is now fully in Council ownership.

The proposed first phase will consist of five housing units, with an estimated completion date of Quarter 1 2028.

“This is a very positive and important step forward,” Cllr McSweeney said.
