After Dark – Drag Hens Den at Dolans

LIMERICK embraced its love of Drag Queens last Saturday 15 night as Paddy Doyle and Dionysus Klub who have taken the best of Drag and LGBTQ-friendly shows and entertainment to Limerick City over the years, brought the brilliantly named ‘Drag Hen’s Den’ to Dolan’s Warehouse.
There was plenty of glitter and sparkle on the night with fans of the art of drag and first timers enjoying a superb night’s entertainment at the popular venue.
The visually stunning show boasted a host of talent as Drag artistes from all over Ireland descended on Dolan’s Warehouse for the second annual national Drag contest.
The contestants were scored on their dazzling alter-egos, charisma, talents and their lip-syncing performance abilities in a number of different categories, all in front of the panel of judges which included Myles Breen, Mike Toomey, Michelle Costello, Gretta O’Shea and Drag Queen Mona Lott.
Limerick’s much loved Drag performers Sheila Fitzpatrick and Madonna Lucia proved brilliant hosts of the event with their killer wit, glamorous outfits and unique banter with the crowd only adding to the entertainment.
Other highlights of the show which celebrated some of the best aspects of LGBTQ life and culture included a guest performance from top Irish performer Paul Ryder.
The evening also boasted fantastic prizes including a sparkling tiara and impressive cash prize that went to the overall winner, Ivanna Boogie!
Afterwards the party atmosphere continued until late with a disco in the Warehouse as everyone involved with the event celebrated its success and looked forward to next year!
