Smart enters examinership

SMART Telecom announced this week that it has entered into an examinership process. Mr. John McStay, of McStay Luby Chartered Accounts has been appointed as the Interim Examiner for the Company by the Irish Commercial Court.

The decision to enter an examinership process is being led by the company’s Board of Directors and supported by Smart’s senior lending group. The initiation of the process follows the conclusion of an extensive strategic review by the company’s financial advisors, Collins Stewart, that revealed significant expressions of interest in the Company.

Smart is currently in advanced discussions with a small number of third parties who have expressed interest in acquiring the entire customer base and assets of the Company. The Company intends to utilise the examinership process to finalise the terms of an investment or merger with one of the interested parties.

Go2mobile Solutions strive forward

Go2mobile has launched two new SMS services from their Limerick base in Mungret.

The new Software-As-A-Service (SAAS) has being developed to contribute and enhance the next wave of SMS functionality. It builds on the platform of greater seamless interactivity within a multimedia rich environment. SMS is part of everyday life, so much so that its operation is almost invisible within the background. Within this familiarity has grown more demands for functionality.

The Grouptext+ service has being developed with this greater requirement in mind. The service allows maximum flexibility, for example in our research we found that companies such as marketing agencies wish to send detailed clear text unique messages to subscribers that are unhindered from the traditional 160 SMS limit.

New name for Mid West accountants society

THE Mid West Society of Chartered Accountants is to change its title to Chartered Accountants Mid West Society from this week.

Society chairman Paul Cunningham notes that “The purpose of this change is a simple one.  We want to bring our key brand attribute, chartered accountants, to the forefront of everything we do.  The new logo for the Mid West Society takes a modern and fresh approach but builds on the historic strength of the island’s oldest and largest professional accountancy body.”

The purpose of the change is to more closely align all district societies and place the emphasis on the word ‘Chartered’ and the high regard with which it is associated.

Chartered Accountants Mid West Society was established in 2008 and now counts for over 800 Chartered Accountants as members.
