Man gets life for teen’s murder

A 21-year-old man has been jailed for life for the murder of a Ukrainian teenager in Limerick two years ago.

John O’Loughlin, of Cecil Street, had denied murdering 16-year-old Roman Vysochan at the Carraig Midhe estate in Corbally on May 10, 2008.

The victim had being stabbed in the chest and died later from his injuries.

At the Central Criminal Court sitting in Limerick, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict and O’Loughlin was given the mandatory life sentence by Mr Justice Paul Carney.
