SuperBlues away to Mervue

-

FIFTH plays sixth this weekend as the SuperBlues travel to take on Mervue United in the Airtricity League First Division. Limerick lost 1-0 at home last weekend to Wexford Youths, so an away win this weekend is crucial for the Limerickmen as a skip week approaches.

Limerick’s season had started so well and with the away draw at Shelbourne in the bag, fans would have been expecting a win last Friday night in Jackman Park. It was not to be however and now Limerick are left in fifth spot with eight points from six games.
With two wins, two draws and two losses, Limerick will be looking for a run of wins to close the already growing gap to table toppers Shelbourne. The Tolka outfit are now five points clear of Limerick with a game in hand.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s game, Limerick FC manager Pat Scully has these words for the fans.
“It’s been a up and down start to the season for us. We have had too many injuries and suspensions and some players have not started the season in good form. We need to stay calm and settle things down a little bit and we will be fine. Mervue Utd are much improved this season and it will be a hard place to get a result as other teams have found out already. We will have to work very hard and match their aggression to get the right result.”
With a skip week to come, Limerick will need an away win to bolster their position, before they return on Monday April 25 against Waterford United in the EA Sports Cup.
The next home league game for Limerick comes on Friday April 29 against Athlone Town.
Off the field, Limerick FC are currentlay looking for a Main sponsor for the new season to go on the front of the jersey.
