Limerick to face Wexford in hurling qualifiers

-

THE Limerick senior hurlers will take on Wexford in round two of the All Ireland qualifiers after the draw was made last weekend. Donal O’Grady’s men will have home advantage against the ‘Yellow Bellies’ on July 2nd. The throw in for the game at the Gaelic Grounds will be at 5pm.

The game is a repeat of a clash in 2009 which Limerick won on a scoreline of, 1-14 to 0-13 points. Limerick enter this stage of the All Ireland buoyed by their performance against Waterford in the Munster championship semi final. Wexford arrive in phase two having lost at the hands of Kilkenny, 1-26 to 1-15. The Wexford men however have played one more match than their Limerick counterparts. On the 29th of May this year Wexford defeated Antrim, 3-16 – 1-11.
With Clare meeting Galway in phase two also, Limerick are now just two games away from an All Ireland quarter final. The Limerick camp and their fans will not be looking past the 2nd of July, but the excite is back in GAA circles. A home game is a great boost for Limerick GAA and the city. With the third round down for the 9th of July, there are busy times ahead. Hopefully.
