Planned search of Raheen house yielded drugs valued at €140,000

GARDAI have charged a woman at Limerick District Court after a planned search of a house in Raheen yielded a drugs find worth €140,000 of cannabis herb. 22-year-old Alison Kelleher of The Grange, Raheen, was charged with the offence contrary to section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, where she was found in possession of the controlled drug at the address when gardai carried out a search as part of their crackdown in the city.

The operation saw the accused woman arrested and detained overnight before being brought to court on Thursday morning last.
During the brief hearing, Ms Kelleher did not speak in court as the details of the arrest charge and caution were read out to Judge Eamon O’Brien.
John Herbert, solicitor, sought bail for his client and the State, through gardai, made no objection.
The court set bail at €1,000 bond with the cash to be lodged as surety.
Ms Kelleher must obey a curfew, sign on daily at Roxboro Garda Station, surrender her passport and not apply for any further travel documents.
The court also ordered that the accused is to remain within the jurisdiction.
The matter was adjourned until February 29 next for the directions of the DPP to be furnished to the court.
