Body recovered from river

THE body of a man was recovered from the River Shannon on Sunday.

Gardai were alerted to the scene shortly before 10am, after an eye-witness reported seeing a person in the river holding onto a life buoy.

An air-sea rescue team from Valentia Coastguard coordinated the search and recovery operation.

The body of a man believed to be in his 20′s was recovered just after 11am and was pronounced dead at the scene.
