A NUMBER of new appointments have been announced at a law firm based in the heart of Limerick City.
Holmes, a national law firm with a base on Henry Street in the city, formerly known as Holmes O’Malley Sexton, confirmed two new appointments at its Shannonside office.
The firm announced Derbhala Considine as new of counsel, along with the appointment of James O’Mahony as senior associate in its real estate unit.
Ms Considine joins Holmes with more than 20 years’ experience as a real estate transaction and professional support lawyer in large Dublin law firms.
She brings, the firm said, “extensive experience in acquisitions and disposals, commercial leasing, real estate finance and the real estate aspects of domestic and international corporate M&A transactions”.
Holmes said that Mr O’Mahony joins the firm with more than 15 years’ experience advising domestic and international clients on “complex commercial property matters, including acquisitions and disposals, commercial leasing, development projects, secured lending and large portfolio transactions”.
He has held senior roles in private practice and in‑house, most recently as senior legal counsel in the renewable energy sector, advising on property and commercial aspects of onshore wind, solar, and battery storage projects. At Holmes, James will focus on commercial property, development work, complex leasing arrangements, and property‑related financing.
Speaking following the announcement, Holmes managing partner Harry Fehily commented: “Dearbhla’s extensive experience as a real estate lawyer is a valuable addition to the firm.” She brings a strong depth of technical expertise with well-developed commercial judgement, enabling her to provide practical, solutions focused advice.”
Sandra Egan, Holmes partner and head of real estate, added: “James brings significant experience across commercial property and development, together with a strong understanding of the commercial drivers behind complex transactions.”
