‘The Misadventures of a Good Citizen’

EMERGING and established playwrights, pay attention to a call to submit a 500-word play that links Joe Citizen to the Irish constitution.
Ormston House graduate award winner Eilish Tuite is the initiator of ‘The Misadventures of a Good Citizen’, an art project that examines personal connections with the Irish Constitution using writing, theatre and performance.

This project asks: “Is Bunreacht na hEireann a work of fiction or merely an aspiration? What is its relevance to you?”
“I am seeking members of the public of any age, background, profession or discipline to participate by responding to particular aspects or articles from the constitution,” confirms Tuite. “The selected plays will be performed by a group of amateur and professional actors as a series of events at Ormston House Gallery on Patrick Street, Limerick city in October 2012. Each writer will be credited for their work as the solo author and owner of the play. The text will not be altered but I may request permission to use extracts of documentation for my own research practice”.
The works will be selected with the assistance of a panel of theatre and arts professionals and a director will be appointed. The deadline for play submissions is 17 August at 6pm to misadventurecitizen@gmail.com. See also www.ormstonhouse.com for background.
