Shirley Callaghan is set to release her new single, “Sleep When I’m Dead”, this Wednesday May 20.
Callaghan has built her musical project from the ground up, combining home recordings with select collaborations, including work with acclaimed producer Paul Statham. Her approach reflects a commitment to independence and creative honesty that has defined her path.
She first entered a recording studio at the age of 18 in South London. Callaghan later relocated to Limerick in her early twenties. There she established herself within the local live music scene, performing both as a solo artist and as part of a band, and sharing stages with established acts including The Golden Horde.
Since releasing her debut single two years ago, her music has attracted international airplay across Europe, the United States, Australia, and beyond — a quietly impressive reach for an artist operating entirely on her own terms.
With a new album on the horizon, Callaghan continues to develop a body of work shaped by lived experience and a determination to write with unflinching honesty, whatever form that may take.
